My family has loved the ones we've tried so far, and can't wait to try more. I'm on the same side as author but don't need political, historical preaching in every chapter. When I say that I didn't see what was coming I have to say that with complete emotion for WOW that was a shocker that is for sure. I felt a bit misled by the title and description. The quality of the editing is extremely good; I saw no typos, misspellings, grammatical errors or formatting issues. and credit to the authors putting it down. The book is old, and Bierce was very much a traditionalist and a pedantic. I noticed this particular guide mentioned in an on-line reference; the writer considered "The New Penguin…" the best of the best. Most of the kings and queens (and wannabes) in this book are not immediately recognizable to most of us, but they played a part of the evolution of the monarchy. Heck I love these books myself. Trying to keep her brothers out of trouble is a full time job. Blah blah blah and blah The novel recounts the degeneration of Gaston Beauvais, a promising young Parisian man who, betrayed by his fiancée and his best friend, falls prey to the seductive powers of absinthe.
